Sanguivoriphobia- The Fear of Vampires

Not usually as prevalent as it used to be, thanks to new age romanticizing of vampires.  Here is a list of the ones I have watched and still have a little bite to them.

        • Interview With The Vampire-     1994

A vampire tells his epic life story: love, betrayal, loneliness, and hunger.

One of the more romanticized movies on this list, gut this movie has some scares, if not the fear of being alone.

  • Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter-     2012

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, discovers vampires are planning to take over the United States. He makes it his mission to eliminate them.

More of an action/ thriller.

  • Blade Trilogy-      1998, 2002, 2004

A half-vampire, half-mortal man becomes a protector of the mortal race, while slaying evil vampires.

Vampire Slaying at it’s best.

  • Dracula-     1958

After Jonathan Harker attacks Dracula at his castle (apparently somewhere in Germany), the vampire travels to a nearby city, where he preys on the family of Harker’s fiancée. The only one who may be able to protect them is Dr. van Helsing, Harker’s friend and fellow-student of vampires, who is determined to destroy Dracula, whatever the cost.

  • Bram Stoker’s Dracula-     1992

The vampire comes to England to seduce a visitor’s fiancée and inflict havoc in the foreign land.

  • The Forsaken-    2001

A young man is in a race against time as he searches for a cure after becoming infected with a virus that will eventually turn him into a blood-sucking vampire.

  • Dracula Untold-     2014

Vlad Tepes is a great hero, but when he learns the Sultan is preparing for battle and needs to form an army of 1,000 boys, including Vlad’s son, he vows to find a way to protect his family. Vlad turns to dark forces in order to get the power to destroy his enemies and agrees to go from hero to monster as he’s turned into the mythological vampire Dracula.

  • Let Me In-     2010

This is a remake of the movie “Let The Right One In” which was a movie adaptation of a book. A story of a young boy who is frequently bullied and a young girl that moves in next door with her caretaker. It is established that she is a vampire and, after losing her caretaker, must leave in order to survive. A story of innocent love entangled in murder, mystery, and horror.

  • Let The Right One In-    2008

Set in 1982 in the suburb of Blackeberg, Stockholm, twelve-year-old Oskar is a lonely outsider, bullied at school by his classmates; at home, Oskar dreams of revenge against a trio of bullies. He befriends his twelve-year-old, next-door neighbor Eli, who only appears at night in the snow-covered playground outside their building.

  • Vampire Hunter D-     1985

In a far-future time ruled by the supernatural, a young girl requests the help of a vampire hunter to kill the vampire who has bitten her and thus prevent her from becoming a vampire herself.

  • 30 Days of night-      2007

This is the story of an isolated Alaskan town that is plunged into darkness for a month each year when the sun sinks below the horizon. As the last rays of light fade, the town is attacked by a bloodthirsty gang of vampires bent on an uninterrupted orgy of destruction. Only the small town’s husband-and-wife Sheriff team stand between the survivors and certain destruction.

  • The Lost Boys-     1987

After moving to a new town, two brothers discover that the area is a haven for vampires.

  • Nosferatu-     1922

Vampire Count Orlok expresses interest in a new residence and real estate agent Hutter’s wife.

  • From Duck Till Dawn-     1996

Seth Gecko and his younger brother Richard are on the run after a bloody bank robbery in Texas. They escape across the border into Mexico and will be home-free the next morning, when they pay off the local kingpin. They just have to survive ‘from dusk till dawn’ at the rendezvous point, which turns out to be a Hell of a strip joint.

  • Salem’s Lot-       1979

A novelist and a young horror fan attempt to save a small New England town which has been invaded by vampires.

* Not on this list are the Comedy/ Drama/ Romance movies such as Once Bitten (1985), Monster Squad (1987), Queen of the Damned (2002), Van Helsing (2004), Underworld Film Series, or any others that I have not seen******
