Kinemortophobia- For the Fear of Zombies!!

The phase of Zombie Movies has slowed down in the last few years giving way to more supernatural horrors.  Here are the classics and not so classics that have a tendency to grab you and rot your brain.

  • 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later-      2003, 2007

Twenty-eight days after a killer virus was accidentally unleashed from a British research facility, a small group of London survivors are caught in a desperate struggle to protect themselves from the infected. Carried by animals and humans, the virus turns those it infects into homicidal maniacs — and it’s absolutely impossible to contain.

  • Dawn of the Dead-     2004

A group of surviving people take refuge in a shopping center after the world has been over taken over by aggressive, flesh-eating zombies. A remake of the 1978 zombie film of the same name.

No, I have never seen the original, that is the reason it is not on this list.

  • Day of The Dead-   1985

In an underground government installation they are searching for a cure to overcome this strange transformation into zombies. Unfortunately, the zombies from above ground have made their way into the bunker.

  • The Dead-      2010

When the last evacuation flight out of war-torn Africa crashes off the coast, American Air Force Engineer Lieutenant Brian Murphy (ROB FREEMAN) emerges as the sole survivor in a land where the dead are returning to life and attacking the living.

  • Diary of The Dead- 2007

A group of young film students run into real-life zombies while filming a horror movie of their own.

  • Land of The Dead-     2005

The world is full of zombies and the survivors have barricaded themselves inside a walled city to keep out the living dead. As the wealthy hide out in skyscrapers and chaos rules the streets, the rest of the survivors must find a way to stop the evolving zombies from breaking into the city.

  • Night of the Living Dead-     1968 AND 1990

A group of people try to survive an attack of bloodthirsty zombies while trapped in a rural Pennsylvania farmhouse. Although not the first zombie film, Night of the Living Dead is the progenitor of the contemporary “zombie apocalypse” horror film, and it greatly influenced the modern pop-culture zombie archetype.

  • Resident Evil Films-     2002, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2017?

When a virus leaks from a top-secret facility, turning all resident researchers into ravenous zombies and their lab animals into mutated hounds from hell, the government sends in an elite military task force to contain the outbreak. Alice and Rain are charged with leading the mission. But they only have three hours before the pathogen becomes airborne and infects the world.

  • The Return of The Living Dead-      1985

When a bumbling pair of employees at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gas into the air, the vapors cause the dead to re-animate as they go on a rampage seeking their favorite food: brains!

They’re Back From The Grave and Ready To Party!

  • World War Z-     2013

Former United Nations employee Gerry Lane traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to destroy humanity itself.

  • I Am Legend-    2007

Robert Neville is a scientist who was unable to stop the spread of the terrible virus that was incurable and man-made. Immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and perhaps the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone.

  • Pontypool-     2008

A psychological thriller in which a deadly virus infects a small Ontario town.

  • I do not have included the movies that are spoofs, romance, of more humorous such as : Shaun of The Dead (2004), Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016), Warm Bodies (2013), Zombieland (2009), Fido (2006), and Zombeavers (2014).  I also know there are many that I have not seen, so these are left out.
